I've just finished Ikemen Desu Ne, the remake of You're Beautiful & enjoyed it. Now I hear there's going to lớn be another Philippines version of Itazura mãng cầu Kiss (the manga that was made into the Japanese drama, anime of the same name, It Started With a Kiss & They Kiss Again dramas in Taiwan & Korean's Playful Kiss.)And of course, there are tons more remakes out there, but I'm focusing on manga/manhwa based ones. Now, it looks more & more like there will be a Full House 2 coming it out since casting been confirmed, and so I want to again revisit the first Full House. Or more particularly the remakes I've watched of it. I talked a little about the Full House manhwa in this post, so I won't go over the same stuff. For now: Full House, Vietnamese style.

Ngoi Nha hanh Phuc - Vietnamese Full House (2009)There is no Rain. No hunky guy who leaves girls slobbering at the sight of his chest, who can make grown women swoon at his charisma & who can sing birds off trees to lớn an untimely death. Exaggerations? Perhaps, but it's no exaggeration that the main lead characters in the Korean Full House (known as KFH from now on) và Ngoi Nha khô cứng Phuc (NNHP), the Vietnamese Full House are very different in looks, charisma indeed. More on that later.
If this was 2004, và there had been no previous version of Full House, the Vietnamese version of Full House would be a bigger success. The house itself in NNHP is striking và features a swimming pool that makes up a wall of a living room và a wall to wall aquarium. The acting, too, is mostly on par or better than the KFN version. Rain
& Song Hye Gyo received much fame from the series, but not really because of their acting ability. But because it's a remake, it begs comparison khổng lồ the original and that's where the problems occur.

I lượt thích Full House. It's the first Korean drama I watched, in a marathon session about six years ago, & since then, I've become a fan hâm mộ of Asian dramas in general. So I have very fond memories of it. Rewatching it afterwards, however, and in particular watching a different version of it makes its flaws much more apparent. Namely, too many repetitious scenes of cooking, cleaning, waiting, coupled with poor writing, and illogical characters (namely a certain đứng đầu movie star who is apparently so immature that he can't khuyễn mãi giảm giá with a real relationship). The ending was also... Lame. (Spoiler alert: She makes do the things he made her do, like cook and clean, & then they kết thúc up in a tent & kiss. So while I liked the music, the dễ thương couple & their antics, and the overall plot premise, the series was not perfect by any means.

(Good performances by both leading ladies, but I actually liked the Vietnamese's actress Minh Hang
's acting more (on the left.)
NNHP, however, acts as if the series was perfect by copying it almost scene for scene. There were slight changes, mostly due to lớn budget, such as a certain scene that took place on a yacht in the original series now takes place on a beach and so on.But for the most part, it's the same. Thus, it has most of the original defects. I wish the writers và director had felt không tính phí to make the series better by changing things around to lớn be reflect Vietnamese life better và to be more logical. The acting by the leads in NNHP is as good as or on the same cấp độ as the original version. However, the male lead has little of Rain's good looks. What he brings to lớn the role is a haughtiness and arrogance that makes the character's actions more understandable. The heroine of the piece is a cutie and charming as well. For the secondary leads, the girl's acting is wooden & the other male lead seems so much older and mediocre that he's not a credible second lead. I loved the actress playing the grandmother here, but she's the only one that stands out apart from the leads.
I think this is better than KFH in two ways. The acting of Luong Manh Hai in NNHP makes his character more understandable. In KFH, Rain's character has this mixture of arrogance, shyness & innocence, as if he's never been in a relationship before. But that doesn't really make sense. In the NNHP version, it' the male lead's coldness và haughtiness is what holds him back from being in a relationship.Another good thing about the NNHP version. The NNHP version is probably shorter, since its 26 episodes are less then an hour long, more like 35? minutes or so. It's a condensed version and that's a good thing (less cooking, cleaning khổng lồ watch). This was the first Vietnamese drama I watched and I was pleasantly surprised by it when I watched it at viki. Up next: Philippine's version of Full House.Credits on pics, Korean full house from kbs site, & hancinema. Vietnamese pics from youtube kenh14.
